This is true! There is an appeal to conspiracy theories because people have learned not to trust others; whether it’s their friends, lovers, or government. I think it also gives people a sense of empowerment; they are in control of their own destiny. It gives a sense of pride and self-esteem when you think you’ve figured something out that not everyone else has. Also, as seen with the flat earth movement, it gives a sense of camaraderie! With people being so isolated, they want to connect with others about something they feel passionate about. Thank you for your article!
